How We Do It

The Committee as a whole usually meets once a month, January through October, on the fourth Thursday, at 7:00 PM,  in the main level meeting room in Bryan Memorial Town Hall. During the recent pandemic, in warmer weather our meetings have been held at the River Walk Pavilion in the Depot.  Other meetings are scheduled as necessary or as required by State Central. Our agenda includes reports from our various subcommittees. They are the real working parts of the full Committee apparatus; they meet on their own schedules during the month, depending on the projects they are pursuing.

Executive Committee: The executive committee is composed of the officers of the WDTC: the Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Deputy Treasurer, and Secretary. The executive committee maps out the overall direction of the WDTC and establishes goals to be achieved each year. The Chair and Vice Chair are ex officio members of all the other subcommittees.

Finance Committee: Consisting of the Treasurer, Deputy Treasurer and two other Committee members, the Finance Committee monitors the expenditures and receipts of the Committee. The Treasurer submits a detailed report to the full Committee on a quarterly basis. The Committee adheres to a Financial Policies guideline, adopted in March of 2018.

Elections Committee: The committee is responsible for an ongoing effort to search for prospective candidates for State and local elected offices, as well as Town appointed Commissions. This subcommittee plans political events involving Democratic candidates, such as gubernatorial, senatorial, or congressional forums. It also lines up candidates, speakers, and officials to visit WDTC monthly meetings and answer questions from Committee members.

Outreach Committee: This subcommittee is responsible for communications. It maintains this Web site, our Facebook page, and our email contacts list. The Committee issues press releases and sends frequent email "blasts" concerning WDTC events, actions, and positions.

Fundraising Committee: This subcommittee is responsible for soliciting donations and sponsoring fund-raising events
